Lake County Cares is a member of the Volunteer Centers of Illinois (VCI). The mission of the Volunteer Centers of Illinois (VCI) is to empower participating organizations to better meet the needs of their communities and to promote volunteerism through a statewide information exchange, collaboration, training, and support. A representative from VCI serves as a non-voting member on the Serve Illinois Commission. www.volunteeril.org

The Volunteer Center of Lake Forest/Lake Bluff received national accreditation from the Points of Light Foundation (POLF) in 2002. POLF merged with the Hands On Network in 2008. Lake County Cares recently received national accreditation from the Hands On Network, joining a network of more than 340 nationally-accredited Volunteer Centers in the country.
